Transparency in Healthcare Costs
On January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act went into effect. The law provides patients with protection from surprise medical bills under certain circumstances. For insured patients, the law also mandates transparency regarding healthcare costs and holds patients liable for in-network cost-sharing amounts only.
As an uninsured or underinsured patient, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services provided to you. This includes related costs such as medical tests and prescription drugs.
Due to the protections provided by this law, we ask that you provide detailed information about what you would like to discuss with your provider at the time you make your appointment. Based on the information you provide, we will create a Good Faith Estimate for your review prior to your visit.
Please be advised that a Good Faith Estimate is only an estimate based on the information provided by you as the patient or the guarantor and may not include any unforeseen costs that accrue during your actual visit based on the medical opinion of your provider.
