Clinical Social Work Associate

Medford Behavioral Health

Chris Johnson is a Clinical Social Work Associate who brings deep professional training and personal dedication to his work. A graduate of the University of Southern California’s Master of Social Work program—where he earned honors—Chris is certified in treating individuals with dual diagnoses of mental health and substance use disorders.

Before entering the field of social work, Chris served in both the U.S. Army and Coast Guard, earning numerous medals and distinctions throughout his military career. His commitment to service and learning was recognized early, including an invitation to present as an undergraduate at the 2017 Western Psychological Association conference.

Chris specializes in supporting individuals involved in the criminal justice system (both mandated and non-mandated), as well as those navigating severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), trauma, depression, anxiety, autism, and crisis situations. Whether someone is seeking short-term support or long-term treatment, Chris tailors care to meet each individual where they are.

He believes in the power of a supportive, inclusive team environment that provides compassionate care to people from all walks of life. Chris’s philosophy with his patients is “You are not your illness.” He strives to help others see their strengths, build resilience, and find healing on their own terms.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys cars, music, art, video games, gardening, and caring for his aquariums.
